This is so well written. Right now, we're in a small town home, with two kids under 6 and one on the way. Our house is usually chaotic. We're all very passionate and emotional. Haha! I wonder what you'd write if you wrote at an earlier stage of parenthood. This post, however, makes me remember what I should strive for. Thank you!

You might have given me my idea for Tuesday's post. Have I got a story from our early parenting years for you when everything wasn't so calm with our first born lol.

I'm glad it was helpful! 😂 Can't wait to read it.

I loved this Maury. This would make an excellent chapter in your next book!

Thank you very much! I am working on a Christmas Advent devotional right now, but I have two other ideas for the future. It’s amazing the things we can do when we listen to God and get out of the way. Thanks again!

What's one ordinary habit that's helped shape the culture of your home?

For both our kids (one is 23 and one is 18) my wife and I each have a statement that tell them every morning before they leave the house for school or work. My wife tells each of them: "Remember who you are and whose you are. You're a Miller and you belong to God." I tell each of them, "Remember today and every day that God loves you, I love you, your mother loves you, your brother/sister loves you, the Doodles (our dogs) love, your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, pastor, and church family loves you. All of them are behind you and want you to do great things. Now do them."

We've been doing that for years. I said it to my 23 year old daughter this morning as I dropped off at the train station for her to go to work in Chicago. These daily affirmations have mattered.

That’s great! My brother did something similar with his kids when he would take them to school. I think consistency is great for kids, and it will lead them to do the same when they have kids. Thanks so much commenting and sharing a peak into your rhythms. Blessings to your crew!

Enjoy the peaceful times! They are made one moment at a time.

It helps when the later not so peaceful ones come. It goes from chaotic to a little less to hypersonic everything in the later teens.

Great post!

We have a 13-year-old and a 17-year-old currently. It’s fun, lol. We are very blessed though.
