I’m Maury Wood, husband to Karen, dad to four kids, former newspaper reporter, former youth minister, and a guy who still finds himself learning life’s biggest lessons at school events, ballfields, church pews, and kitchen conversations.

Grit & Wit is where I tell those stories.

Some will make you laugh. Some might hit a little closer to home than you expected. Most begin with something ordinary and end somewhere deeper.

I write about faith, marriage, parenting, work, family, and the everyday moments where God tends to do His best work.

You won’t find polished perfection here because I don’t have any to offer.

What you will find are honest stories from a husband trying to love his wife well, a dad trying to raise four kids faithfully, and a follower of Jesus figuring out what faith looks like on ordinary Tuesdays.

Along the way, we’ll talk about everything from family vacations and awkward parenting moments to grief, gratitude, marriage, purpose, and the people who shape our lives.

I’m also the author of Faith With Work Boots On and Built to Last, and my work has been featured through podcasts including Dad Up, Dad Space, Living the Next Chapter, and The Family Teams Podcast, with upcoming work appearing through Focus on the Family.

If you’re looking for practical faith, a few laughs, and stories that remind you you’re not the only one trying to figure life out, you’re in the right place.

Every Tuesday, I’ll pull up a chair and share a story.

I’d be honored if you’d join me.
